Start before you have finished
That’s what they all say.
“Don’t wait until you are ready.”
“It doesn’t have to be perfect.”
“Do it anyway.”
And so on. Ok, I get it. But there has to be something there, at least, right?
Let’s rewind a bit.
For a long time, I’ve had the urge, dream, wish (and so on) to do something new. To create something based on what I love to do.
First, it took me ages to figure out what I loved to do. It sounds crazy now when I’m writing this. How can I not know what I love to do?
I have no idea why it was so difficult for me to connect the dots, but it was.
Then one day I glanced over my bookshelf. It’s filled with cookbooks. I love to cook, but how could I not see that? I also love to write. I knew these things about myself, but I did not see them. Again, how or why, I don’t know (that either).
When I finally saw it and did indeed connect the dots, I spent a lot of time thinking about how to do whatever it is I’m going to create. What should it be? What could it be? And who would care? And what would I call this new thing in my life?
Again, I spent a lot of time thinking about these things.
To make a very long story sort of short, I concluded that I want to write about plant-based cooking (and eating!). I want to blog and be on social media. To be perfectly honest, I don’t want to be on social media. I find it hard to stand in front of a camera, but I’ll practise and give it a go.
The whole social media thing has been a hindrance to getting started. The “I’m not ready” and “I don’t want to” have had a grip on me that has been so hard to get rid of. It’s still there, if I’m being honest. But I want to start. I want to get moving.
“Don’t wait until you are ready.”
Ah, ok.
So, here I am. I’m not ready. But I’m starting this journey anyway.

Great Cecily!
Great work! This is a celebration of the spirit of focusing on something you like, sharing what you learned so far, and encouraging others to share as well. In this ever-harsher world, where we are supposed to know it all by ourselves, this is what we need!
Thanks,
Hugo
